Wonder of mountains–Shimla trip
Just when winter was about to say goodbye to 2015, we packed our bags and left for Shimla via Kalka mail on 18th of February, 2015 . After a tiring journey in the train the ride from Kalpa to Shimla was highly refreshing. No wonder that mountains are the most beautiful creation of the almighty, but the roads created by men always serves us with a thrilling ride .
Our Driver Saab was a master of his profession ! He assured that the ride was smooth and safe. After reaching Hotel Hans , we rested that afternoon. Temperature was around 5 degree Celsius . Evenings in hilly areas are best for shopping and I was no exception!
All I needed to make my luggage complete was a pair of waterproof gloves !
The next day we visited the snow-covered valleys of Kufri . It was place full of activities! Horse-riding, Skiing , Food stalls , Accessories , Rifle Shooting and much more. It was nothing less than an exciting fair on the white wet ground of the Kufri Valley.
After enjoying myself to the fullest we had to come back to the hotel and get ready for the next destination , Manali. Next morning on the way to Kullu, my eyes had a toast of one of the best places to be-the roads of Himachal Pradesh. The sky looked foreign there, the sun is hardly seen in the early and late hours of the day. The Biyas river was an excellent and a consistent company where every next second brought a new frame to the eyes.
Manali was fully covered with snow and the temperature was 1 degree Celsius when we checked in to Kenilworth International Hotel. The evening again, spent on buying gifts ! Not to forget a friend I made, Jasim has a shop of woolen clothes, he is from Kashmir. He spends 9-10 months a year in Manali and only visits home when there are emergencies. He welcomes his customers with a broad smile. It was fun to join him over a cup of tea. It was seriously cold and we came back to the hotel for a sound sleep!
The icy cold and happening Sollang Valley was waiting for us the next day. We weren’t late. The rope ways provided a breath-taking view to all the tourists and the sky seemed to filled with kites like a festival. As the kites came closer they turned out to be people with parachutes. The bright sunny day made me wonder what happens here when the sun’s duty gets over! Is it the snow that keeps pouring from heaven or is it the angels to come and play here !
No wonder that’s a secret!

Wonderful write up with beautiful description of queen of Himachal Pradesh. If one wishes to visit a hill station, first of all he or she has to love it from core of heart. I believe Samyabrata has a tremendous soft corner for hills. So this wonderful extract has come out from his pen.
