Ashoka Dhamma, while lacking a formal definition, epitomizes a virtuous way of life. Rooted in the principles of Buddhism, Ashoka propagated these ideals through his 14 Edicts. It served as a guiding light for his subjects. Drawing from the timeless wisdom of Lord Buddha, the tenets of Ashoka’s Dhamma included the pursuit of truth, kindness, humility, patience, and the renunciation of egoism.

The renowned Ashoka Edicts, etched onto rocks, narrate the emperor’s life story and the dissemination of Dhamma. The edicts outlined various facets of Dhamma. It ranges from the prohibition of animal sacrifice to the encouragement of humane treatment for slaves. The edict encourages the abolition of death sentences, and the promotion of religious tolerance.
