Nikkon Dance Centre Triumphs with a Spectacular 4th Annual Dance and Music burlesque at Barasat Rabindra Bhavan, Kolkata.

In a resounding achievement, the Nikkon Dance Centre recently concluded its 4th annual dance and music program at the illustrious Barasat Rabindra Bhavan in Kolkata. This magnificent event was spearheaded by Smt. Rupa Sarkar, the esteemed principal of Nikkon Dance Centre. It is here, in the heart of Barasat, that the remarkable journey of Nikkon Dance Centre commenced.

Smt. Rupa Sarkar, a distinguished disciple of the renowned Smt. Molly Roy in Bharatanatyam and Smt. Luna Poddar in Kathak, brought her remarkable expertise to the forefront. Under her tutelage, the Nikkon Dance Centre has flourished and expanded its reach to encompass branches in Madhyamgram, New Barrackpore, and Birati.

The event started with a captivating welcome dance featuring all the students, including the graceful presence of Principal Smt. Rupa Sarkar. The program was thoughtfully divided into multiple segments, each offering a unique perspective on the world of dance. The evening unfolded with a mesmerizing blend of pure classical performances, riveting Kathak fusions, and spirited folk dances.

The disciples of Smt. Sarkar showcased their dedication and skill, performing with exceptional grace and synchronization. Both junior and senior students demonstrated a commendable level of discipline, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. The musical interlude featured a splendid Sitar recital by Shri Parambrata Sarkar, the son of Smt. Rupa Sarkar and a dedicated disciple of Shri Jayanta Banerjee and Chandrarka Chattopadhyay. He was accompanied by his cousin, Kankana Roy, on the tabla. Together, they delivered a performance that resonated deeply with the audience. Their melodious notes touching the hearts of all in attendance.

Some of the evening’s concepts were nothing short of enthralling, such as the enchanting renditions of Krishna Astakam, Janai Kirtanam, Narishakti, and a heartfelt tribute to the rich tapestry of Indian classical dance forms.
