Baidyabati Shivam Dance Centre Presents Dance-Drama Shyama

Shyama, a mesmerizing dance drama, beautifully crafted by Rabindranath Tagore, draws its inspiration from his epic poem, “Porisodh,” which in turn was influenced by the enchanting Sanskrit Buddhist literature penned by Rajendralal Mitra of Nepal. This opulent production unveils a captivating tale set in an ancient world where love, sacrifice, and destiny intertwine.

The central characters of this enthralling dance drama are Shyama, the enchanting court dancer. Bajrasen, a noble and wealthy businessman. Uttiyo, a silent admirer and childhood friend of Shyama. Kotal, the relentless police officer. Bandhu, a dear friend of Bajrasen.

The story commences with Bajrasen being confronted by his anxious friend about a rumor that the queen seeks a precious necklace. Bajrasen is rumored to possess Indramani Necklace, acquired from the mystical Subornodwip. However, Bajrasen firmly denies ever parting with the necklace and reveals that he would only bestow it upon the one he has never met—the girl of his dreams.
